The Type SE, Style SEU service entrance cable is primarily employed for the conveyance of electrical power from the service drop to the meter base and from the meter base to the distribution panelboard. However, the cable may be utilised in all applications where Type SE cable is permitted. The SER may be deployed in wet or dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90°C. The voltage rating is 600 volts.

A concentric cable (CNE) is a specific type of power cable that is frequently utilised in the context of power transmission and distribution systems. The structure of the cable comprises a central copper conductor surrounded by one or more layers of insulating material, followed by one or more layers of copper conductor braided shielding, and the outermost layer is an insulating sheath. CNE concentric cables are frequently employed in medium and low voltage power distribution systems, including in industrial, commercial, and residential buildings for the purposes of transmission and distribution.

Concentric cables are used as the electrical service entrance from the distribution network to the meter panel, particularly in cases where the objective is to prevent "black" losses or electrical theft.  This type of conductor is suitable for use in both dry and wet environments, including direct burial and outdoor applications.  It can operate at temperatures up to 90°C and is rated at 600V.
